home//made: month 1
It’s been a full month since we moved into our house. We’re still in the process of buying furniture, decorating, and plain old figuring out things like pest control (yes there are a lot of big spiders!). I thought it’d be nice to do a month-to-month update of how our home is being turned into our own (thought it’d be fitting to call the series home//made).
So these aren’t the best pics, but they give you an idea of where we stand right now. Minimal decor.
You’ll notice that we did get a couch though! Its size makes up for us not having one for the last 6 months. Regardless, this thing makes Jeff’s tv time so much more enjoyable.
Here’s the craft room. Still need to get a shelf to store all my supplies. Am using our dining table as my craft table, since it was too big for the kitchen area.
Our room. We need to get a bed frame, and the we’re wanting to get one big bureau to share, to make things look cleaner, and so we have more furniture for the guest bedroom. And yes, that’s a mountain of laundry on the right side of this pic!
This is our little book nook. It’s currently the most put-together part of the house.
And lastly, I thought I’d share one of my favorite parts of living here: the view of the sunset. Today was partly cloudy, and there was a span of time where the sun was trying to peek out.

I always look forward to this time of day. Seems like it’s God’s gift to us. I have been trying to slow down and enjoy it every day!

How nice!! I would love to see the progress!!! Thx for sharing!
Thanks for reading! I’ll be posting progress every month. Hopefully that’ll be incentive for us to get furniture and decorate!
Just lovely!
Thanks!
It’s so exciting turning a house into a home! The floors are beautiful and love the archway!! Thanks for sharing!
Aw, thanks! It’s exciting, but a lot of work! I’m pretty indecisive when it comes to home decor, so this whole thing is going to be a challenge for me!
So nice that you are sharing the photo’s of your house with us. It allready looks good. But those big spiders, aah!! I hope you are not afraid of them like I am, I’ve got a phobia for spiders. Good luck!
Famke
I hear ya on the spiders! I’m trying to get used to them, but they do freak me out too…specially because some of them are so big you can see the fur on their legs! Be glad you don’t have to deal with that!!
Throw some cheery colored throws on your sofa to reflect/bring back the lovely light!!
Ah, good idea! I’ll put that on the list of things to get!
Can’t wait to see them in your next update
Looks lovely! Settling in can be such an adventure
Thanks! And adventure, and a journey (aka long process!!)
It looks like a beautiful large space, I love all the light in your craft room. If your book nook is a sampling of what it will all look like when put together, its going to be fabulous. Can’t wait to see the transformation.
Aw thanks! Am hoping the rest of the house turns out as fun as the book nook. It’d be great to get some antiquey/colorful accent pieces to give the place some character!
Settling in sure does take time. These will be great photos to look back on and see how far you’ve come! I hope to do the same thing whenever we move into a place of our own. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, it’ll be fun to look back and see the process/progress. And I bet you could do the same for apartments/rental houses too! That’ll be good decorating practice for when you get your own place.
