amy & italo’s wedding invites

A couple months ago, I posted about the Save the Dates I made for my friends Amy and Italo. They looked like this:

For the invites, we continued the theme of connecting their names together through a location, and using watercolor.

The Save the Dates were focused on America and Brazil (where Amy and Italo are from), and the band that held the invite together did the same.

Pulling the pages out revealed the wedding location (the page with the blue tab). I really liked this, because Amy and Italo dated long distance internationally for a number of years. So the invites follow their journey from their respective countries to NYC, which is where they both live now.

The second page (the one with the purple tab) zoomed in further to reveal a map of how to get to the wedding venue. Think of it like a rudimentary version of the zoom feature on Google maps.

And to complete the package, Amy stamped a luggage tag on the front and back of each envelope. She got the idea from this tutorial on Creature Comforts.

I had a lot of fun making these for Amy and Italo, and know that I’ll have a lot of fun being a part of their wedding too! This is my first time to be part of a wedding (other than my own) I’ve never been a flower girl or a bridesmaid before, so I’m really looking forward to this!

These are absolutely gorgeous! What a lovely mix of colour, function, and whimsy. I had a multicultural wedding, too, and it was so fun to honor the different places where our families come from. Enjoy!

I bet it was great seeing how the two cultures mixed on your wedding day, and made things really special. I’m looking forward to experiencing it at my friend’s wedding too!
