MLK weekend roundup
Happy MLK Day! Hope you were fortunate enough to have the day off. I spent my holiday hanging out with my friend Thuy and watching a movie. Too bad Jeff had to work.
This weekend roundup is dedicated to veggies. Yup, you read that right.
one
We started off by picking up our first share with Urban Acres, a local food co-op. We bought a Groupon for it recently, and are pretty excited. I have faith that it will be a whole lot better than the co-op we signed up for last year.
two
I made beet and kale chips. And yes, the beet chip in the pic looks like an ear. But no, it was not an ear. Jeff thought it was a good way to ‘get your man to eat his veggies.’ Duly noted.
three
stout floats! We had Yeti for the first time last weekend. It’s a stout that’s dark as motor oil, and it’s intense but bitter. Drink it warm (It tastes better at room temp), and if you’re gona make a float with it, let the ice cream melt before chugging it down. You will be chugging it – it’s that good.
four
Did a little couch hunting. We’re on the market for a new one, since we tossed ours during the move. During our hunt, found this awesome day bed at World Market. Reminds me of Anthro.
five
Played with some puppies for adoption outside PetSmart. This one’s named Liberty because she was born on July 4.
six
More knitting. I got a giant thing of eco wool last weekend and tested it out. Love the color, but definitely needs some kind of fabric softener.
seven
Saw Girl with the Dragon Tattoo today. I went by myself, which is no biggie normally. But for this movie, I kinda wish I had someone to process it with, since it was so dark and intense (kinda like after watching Black Swan). It was good, but so intense. And there are some scenes where I was just plain cringing because I was so disturbed. Can I just say that Rooney Mara was so badass in it? Anyone else see it? thoughts?
Allright, that’s it for now. Enjoy the (short) week!

i LOVE kale chips! i haven’t tried beet chips though. they look like stained glass!
i’m jealous you have a short week this week – also jealous that it’s like 70 degrees in texas and today it’s supposed to hit -25 here. kill me.
OH! heard you had dinner with my brother the other day!! how random!!
Veggie chips rule! Although they do kinda bake unevenly in the oven…or maybe that’s just ours! And yeah, we randomly had dim sum with your bro/his gf last weekend. Turns out we have mutual friends! They said you might be in town in the near future?
