a niece’s notions
Emmy, the new niece, turned one month old this past Saturday. Jeff and I made our first time to Oklahoma to see her. It was a lot of fun catching up with DK and Amyie, and getting to know Emmy. She is such a sweet and fun baby. I’m looking forward to our next trip to see her!
For Emmy’s one month birthday, I made her a little notion of a headband.

I started off by crocheting a rose and a 12-inch rectangular strip (it was 5 stitches across). And yes, I used a stuffed animal’s head as reference on how long to make the strip. Don’t judge me.

Next, I sewed the edges of the strip together to form one seamless band.

I sewed tulle petals on the rose, and attached it to the seam of the band, to cover it up.

What’d Emmy think? Hmm. Might have to wait a bit to ask her.

(Amyie made her this onesie and the matching legwarmers. I’m certain there will be a cute outfit for each upcoming month!)
And I just had to post this picture of Uncle Jeff with Emmy.
